NEWSRIGHT MEDIA TRAINING

Media TrainingDoes your organization recognize the importance of media training?

Our clients understand that their business growth depends on many marketplace factors. Some they can control, but others they cannot. With dynamic and focused training, executives gain advantages that improve their prospects for growth and development.

The Echols Group takes media training out of the textbooks and into the modern news environment with

  • Knowledge. We make sure our participants understand the psyche and the motivation of today's reporters. Why? It's no different than understanding how a business competitor operates - the greater your knowledge of the press, the greater your chance of success with the press.
  • Strategy. The best way in which to establish effective media relationships is the strategic way. Our NewsRight programs show participants how to evaluate the news... how to develop story ideas... and how to manage and direct important media interactions.
  • Technique. The Echols Group knows that the best media technique has two essential components - what you say, and how you say it. We discuss communications guidelines designed to strengthen message dissemination, persuasion skills, and vocal control. NewsRight participants also learn how to recognize question traps, as well as how to get out of them.
  • Expertise. NewsRight training programs are intensive, entertaining, and interactive. In our Hot Spot breakout sessions, participants square off with Lee Echols in a series of videotaped or audiotaped interviews. The framework of the Hot Spots is diverse, ranging from TV and radio talk show simulations to newspaper editorial board meetings.

Here's How to Fix It

Start talking. Using the key messages as the foundation, write a news release. Disseminate to key media, and post on your website. Conduct a news conference only if you really, really, really want to do one. Update your messages regularly and continue your stream of information. The thing above all that makes people nervous in a crisis? Lack of information.
